LOVE ISLAND - WEEK THREE - DAY ONE

Hello and welcome to your Daily Devos following our Love Island messages at 29:11! Take some time today to read through the scriptures provided, meditate on the lessons learned that are applicable for all of us from this week and journal your prayers. Have an amazing week 29:11 Church!

THEME SCRIPTURE:

21 Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.

22 Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.

25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her 26 to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, 27 and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. 28 In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29 After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church— 30 for we are members of his body. 31 “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.”32 This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church. 33 However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.

Ephesians 5:21-33 NIV

TODAY’S PASSAGE:

Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

1 Peter 5:8

REFLECTION:

Take a moment to consider the impact your father, grandfather, brothers, or uncles have had on you. Think about how a man has inspired, loved, encouraged, or helped you in your life. The biblical truth that God created for this world is that men play a crucial role in our lives. The mantle of manhood is the mantle of leadership. There is a beauty when men take on that mantle and lead their family, their friends, and their community.

However, the sad truth is that the enemy knows the value of this mantle and is actively seeking to destroy these leaders in our lives. Without these strong leaders, we start to so our lives and the world begin to collapse. The effects of this devastating attack from the enemy is seen in rising rates of fatherlessness, divorce, sexual chaos, and many other societal struggles.

As modern-day Christians, whether man or woman, we must protect and uphold the value of the males in our lives. The enemy has been working tirelessly to create a culture that destroys and devalues the role of men. Biblically, men are called to be leaders, protectors, and providers in their households. There is a blatant attack from the enemy on men in our society today.

We must combat this. We must fight to empower men to have a voice. We need to encourage men to lead again, in love, faith, truth, and righteousness. We need men to be all that God has made them to be, not just for their own sake, but for the good of everyone.

THOUGHTS TO PONDER:

Take some time today to consider the role of men in your life. Reflect on their impact and how you have encouraged the men in your life—whether it be your father, brothers, male friends, or sons—to be the strong and courageous leaders God has made them to be. Men, how can you strive to be the man of God that He has created you to be? Women, how can you support and empower the men in your life to fulfill their God-given roles?
