our story
29:11 from The Beginning
Our story began in the back of a van in Africa. It was a group of statements that God gave us called “The Church I See.” It came out of our quest to wonder what a church could look like that could really reach the broken and hurting in our culture today. God poured out a vision that can be seen in many ways, who 29:11 is today.
29:11 was planted in a house in West Chandler with a passion for reaching the East Valley. Growth came fast, and it wasn’t long before we were forced to move to a bigger location. Our humble beginnings brought us to the epicenter of Tempe, where creativity, education, and curiosity thrived. 29:11 refurbished an old charter school and brought that 7000 square feet to life. More space was needed, and within a few years, we were taking on another 7000 square feet, creating a bigger space for individuals and families. We expanded our kids’ areas and Jeremiah’s, our coffee shop. And it wasn’t long before we filled that 14,000 feet again.
With a growing congregation, plans to move were inevitable, but they came quicker than expected. With our building sold and torn down, we had to find a place to meet fast. This is where our miracle comes in! God opened the door for us to acquire a former church property that was possibly going to be sold and utilized for a future residence for Seniors. Through a series of God events, we were able to purchase the property and officially find a home in the city of Tempe!
Our growth is so much greater than just a building. Over the years, our staff has multiplied along with our vision. Our hope from the original of 29:11 has always been “to fight for every person to find the plan of salvation, the hope of Jesus and a future for their lives.” That fight is a part of our everyday lives as we take God’s great message of love to the streets of Tempe, the East Valley, the greater Phoenix area, and the world!
