LOVE ISLAND - WEEK FIVE - DAY THREE
Hello and welcome to your Daily Devos following our Love Island messages at 29:11! Take some time today to read through the scriptures provided, meditate on the lessons learned that are applicable for all of us from this week and journal your prayers. Have an amazing week 29:11 Church!
THEME SCRIPTURE:
Matthew 19:1-6 NLT
When Jesus had finished saying these things, he left Galilee and went down to the region of Judea east of the Jordan River. Large crowds followed him there, and he healed their sick. Some Pharisees came and tried to trap him with this question: “Should a man be allowed to divorce his wife for just any reason?” “Haven’t you read the Scriptures?” Jesus replied. “They record that from the beginning ‘God made them male and female.’” And he said, “‘This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.’ Since they are no longer two but one, let no one split apart what God has joined together.””
TODAY’S PASSAGE:
But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!) For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus. So God can point to us in all future ages as examples of the incredible wealth of his grace and kindness toward us, as shown in all he has done for us who are united with Christ Jesus. God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
—Ephesians 2:4-10 NLT
REFLECTION:
Have you ever owed someone money and they didn’t make you pay it back? It’s a freeing feeling because what you deserve is to be indebted to that person and owe them something. God’s grace is a lot like that. We don’t get what we deserve…he freely forgives us. We experience grace and forgiveness on a daily basis from God. Why is it so hard to forgive others - especially the ones closest to us? Forgiveness frees our hearts from becoming bitter. You have a choice to forgive and say you’re sorry and become a better person, or if you hold onto unforgiveness you can become bitter. Choose to make it right, with God’s help you can forgive.
THOUGHTS TO PONDER:
Has there been a relationship in your life that is broken? How can you make it right? Journal about who you need to forgive and ask the Lord to help you.
