Parables of the Hidden Treasure and the Pearl

44 “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a treasure that a man discovered hidden in a field. In his excitement, he hid it again and sold everything he owned to get enough money to buy the field.

45 “Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a merchant on the lookout for choice pearls. 46 When he discovered a pearl of great value, he sold everything he owned and bought it!"

TODAY’S PASSAGE:

The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.

- Numbers 6:24-26

REFLECTION:

This passage of Scripture is one of the most famous blessings in Scripture. When the world shut down in 2020 these verses became an anthem for so many people. There’s nothing like having the Blessing of God in your life. It’s not something money can buy, but when your heart is surrendered and obedient to God’s ways you can’t help but see His favor all over your life. C.S. Lewis was right when he said, “When we lose one blessing, another is often most unexpectedly given in its place.” That’s how God works. He doesn’t always give us what we want but he always gives us what we need. May His favor and blessings be upon you. 

THOUGHTS TO PONDER:

Read Numbers 6:24-26 out loud and speak God’s blessing over your life. Text that verse to someone else and remind them of God’s blessing on their lives.
