GROW UP - WEEK TWO - DAY THREE
Hello and welcome to your Daily Devos, following our Grow Up series at 29:11!
Take some time today to read through the provided scriptures, meditate on the lessons we’ve learned this week, and journal your prayers. Have an amazing week, 29:11 Church!
THEME SCRIPTURE:
They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. 44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
- Acts 2:42-47 NIV
TODAY’S PASSAGE:
“Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ. Then we will no longer be immature like children. We won’t be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they sound like the truth. Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church. He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.”
- Ephesians 4:11-16 NLT
REFLECTION:
How do you like to receive gifts? Are you a practical gift person or a personal gift person? As i grow older i have learned to appreciate the practical gifts more and when reading this passage im reminded about how intentional and practical God is while he gives us these gifts. By having these gifts the opportunity to grow the church is even greater. These gifts or roles given by God are what makes a immature christian to a mature christian because if we don’t surround ourselves with teachers and pastors to learn from then we are only sitting where we should be growing. why is the chance to do His work important? Because He has better things in store for us than just the baby food!
THOUGHTS TO PONDER:
Take time this week to pray and ask God about the gifts he’s given YOU to reach the people for Him.
