GROW UP - WEEK ONE - DAY THREE

Hello and welcome to your Daily Devos, following our Grow Up series at 29:11!

Take some time today to read through the provided scriptures, meditate on the lessons we’ve learned this week, and journal your prayers. Have an amazing week, 29:11 Church!

THEME SCRIPTURE:

Dear brothers and sisters, when I was with you I couldn’t talk to you as I would to spiritual people. I had to talk as though you belonged to this world or as though you were infants in Christ. 2 I had to feed you with milk, not with solid food, because you weren’t ready for anything stronger. And you still aren’t ready, 3 for you are still controlled by your sinful nature. You are jealous of one another and quarrel with each other. Doesn’t that prove you are controlled by your sinful nature? Aren’t you living like people of the world? 4 When one of you says, “I am a follower of Paul,” and another says, “I follow Apollos,” aren’t you acting just like people of the world?

- 1 Corinthians 3: 1-4 NLT

TODAY’S PASSAGE:

They profess to know God, but they deny him by their works.

- Titus 1:16 ESV

REFLECTION:

Knowing the Bible is important, but it is not the sole measure of spiritual maturity. A person can be well-versed in Scripture yet lack the heart and life transformation that comes from truly following Christ. Knowledge alone can lead to pride or a sense of superiority, but spiritual growth requires applying what we learn in the Bible to our daily lives. It's in the choices we make, how we treat others, and how we seek to align our hearts with God that true maturity begins to form.

As Titus 1:16 says, “They profess to know God, but they deny him by their works,” it becomes clear that our actions reveal the depth of our faith. Spiritual maturity comes through a process of daily obedience, surrendering our will to God and letting His Word shape our character and actions. The knowledge of Scripture should lead to transformation, evidenced by a life that reflects Christ's love, humility, and truth. Without this, our profession of faith becomes hollow, disconnected from the reality of a life lived for God.

THOUGHTS TO PONDER:

True spiritual maturity is not measured by how much Scripture we can recite but by how deeply it transforms our lives. Are we living in alignment with what we know, or are we simply accumulating knowledge? Consider how the Word of God is shaping your thoughts, actions, and character. Does your life reflect the truth you profess, or is there a disconnect between belief and practice? Let this be a reminder that obedience is the path to genuine spiritual growth.
