Romans 16:3-5 “Give my greetings to Priscilla and Aquila, my co-workers in the ministry of Christ Jesus. In fact, they once risked their lives for me. I am thankful to them, and so are all the Gentile churches. Also give my greetings to the church that meets in their home.”

The Big Idea: Work together!

During the apostle Paul’s ministry, he encountered and befriended a married couple by the names of Aquila and Priscilla. They just so happened to be in the same line of work that he was- tent making (Acts 18). They ended up joining Paul in a portion of his missionary journeys and made an impact on the community around them by spreading the Gospel. Aquila and Priscilla were able to use their labor as a means to do ministry together. Working together builds cooperation and comradery. It causes us to stretch and grow. Maybe you and your spouse are not in the same line of work or don’t even share the same passions, but there is something special about working together. Is there something that you and your spouse can both work on together?

The Action Step:

Explore ways that the two of you can serve God together.  Here are some examples:

  • Serve at church together or volunteer at a food bank.

  • Clean the house or do laundry together

  • Clean up the yard, or someone else’s yard who could use the help.

  • Make a manna bag (a goodie bag full of necessities and treats) and deliver it to a homeless person that you routinely pass on the street.

Be creative! But most importantly, keep your heart open to the Spirit’s leading. He may want to use you both to directly impact someone else. He also may want to expose some areas of your marriage that you now have the opportunity to work through!
