Scripture - 2 Samuel 4

Observation - Mephibosheth was Jonathan’s son and Saul’s grandson and was only five-years old when his grandfather and father were killed. His nurse ran away with him so that no one with a claim to throne would kill him. He was injured in the process and became crippled. Eventually, David heard that Mephibosheth was alive and gave all that Saul had to him as well as the honor of sitting at the king’s table. David displayed the true value of keeping a promise and placing value in a long-lasting friendship

Application - Having friends by your side really helps you when life gets hard. Like everything in life, some friendships last a lifetime, and some friendships come and go. For each season, learn to build on those friendships by praying with one another and building community together.

Prayer - Father, I ask that you help me with friendships in my life. Help to recognize the friendships that help me grow more with you and the ones that seem to drag me down and pull me away from you. In your name I pray, amen.
