Scripture - 2 Samuel 17

Observation - Ahithopel hangs himself either because he is angry that Absalom didn’t follow his advice or because he thinks Absalom’s plan will fail. Ahithopel knows that if Absalom fails, he’ll be found guilty of treason and executed. No matter what the circumstances, suicide is detestable to the Hebrews because of the high value they place on human life.

Application - It is hard when we lose someone to suicide. We are usually left with more questions than answers. When those troubled times hit us, it is best to take them to God. If you feel lost, or in a dark place, reach out to someone who can help you.

Prayer - Lord, your Word speaks promises of healing and restoration and I thank you for the miracles you still perform today. Today I claim those promises over my friend. I believe in the healing power of faith and prayer and I ask you to begin your mighty work in the life of my friend. In your name I pray, amen.
