Scripture - 1 Samuel 12
Observation - Israel needs a reminder that they have rejected God as their king. Samuel wonders what it will take to get their attention. Samuel asks for thunder and rain and God does what Samuel asked. It is such a hard force that the Lord has provided that the people think that they are going to die. Samuel wants the people to be aware. By asking them to stand still and see he urges them to actively look for a display of God’s power.
Application - Have you ever wondered about the power of God? Maybe there’s a healing or miracle you are waiting for. Instead of worrying or looking all around, turn to God for the answers. It’s easy to feel discouraged when things don’t happen in the time frame we think they should, but God’s timing is always perfect.
Prayer - Lord, I thank you that you always answer my prayers in Your perfect timing. Reveal what is in my heart and make me ready to receive what you have for me. Help me to be patient and not give up. I choose to trust you. In your name I pray, amen.
