PROPHETS - ISAIAH - DAY THREE

Hello and welcome to our weekly devos following our Prophets series! These devo’s are Monday-Friday and pair with this past week’s message. Be sure to journal your thoughts, vocalize your prayers, and find God in all moments of your life this week.

THEME SCRIPTURE:

“But forget all that— it is nothing compared to what I am going to do. For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland. The wild animals in the fields will thank me, the jackals and owls, too, for giving them water in the desert. Yes, I will make rivers in the dry wasteland so my chosen people can be refreshed.”

Isaiah 43:18-20 NLT

TODAY’S PASSAGE:

“He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn’t produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more.”

John 15:2 NLT

REFLECTION:

If you have ever “pruned” your bushes before oftentimes when you are done pruning they almost look dead. But the beautiful thing about pruning is after you trim and take away the parts that don’t need to be there it grows back more beautiful than it was before. The same thing happens with us. Pruning is something that we need in order to grow in our relationship with God. What dead branches are you carrying around in your life? Maybe it’s a bad attitude, a harmful relationship, an addiction, unforgiveness or a wound from your past.

When you allow the Lord to prune those areas, even though it can be difficult there is so much beauty that comes from it. God loves you and He has good plans for you. Allow Him to be the gardener of your life and get rid of weeds and dead branches of your life to help you grow into the new person He’s created you to be.

THOUGHTS TO PONDER:

Are you dragging any dead things around that need pruning? How can you allow God to be the Gardener in your life and prune those areas? What is the beauty that can come that, when God makes you new?
