FATHER’S DAY - DAY ONE

Hello and welcome to your Daily Devos following our Father’s Day message at 29:11! Take some time today to read through the scriptures provided, meditate on the lessons learned that are applicable for all of us from this week and journal your prayers. Have an amazing week, thank you to all the mighty men of 29:11 Church!

THEME SCRIPTURE:

“We will not hide them from their children, But [we will] tell to the generation to come the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, And [tell of] His great might and power and the wonderful works that He has done.”

Psalms 78:4 AMP

TODAY’S PASSAGE:

Therefore I stationed some of the people behind the lowest points of the wall at the exposed places, posting them by families, with their swords, spears and bows. 14 After I looked things over, I stood up and said to the nobles, the officials and the rest of the people, “Don’t be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your families, your sons and your daughters, your wives and your homes.”

Nehemiah 4:13-14 NIV

REFLECTION:

There’s so much more to our daily battle when we realize what we are fighting for. Looking back to my childhood, I can’t help but think of all the times I was able to look back and would see my father sitting in the stands for every baseball game, how those car rides to the grocery store were filled with conversations about life and how we sat down for dinner each night as a family to talk about the day we had.

As I looked back to those things earlier in life, I thought they were just “fun” things we did as a family, but the more I grew up, the more I realized that my dad was building a legacy for us to follow. How we fight now for our families by showing them Christ and what we have built our families on is so crucial in the spiritual war that’s constantly surrounding us. When we choose legacy and choose to fight for the things that matter most to God in our houses, future generations of warriors are built to continue the legacy of faith for our families. What legacy are you building, and what legacy are you defending in your home?

THOUGHTS TO PONDER:

Take some time today to pencil out the different actions and thoughts that build the legacy for your family and how you show them Christ (i.e. your family mission statement, what you do on a daily to seek God together, language you use around the house). After thinking about those things, pray that God can continue to use you as a place of strength and protection for the loved ones around you.
