Take some time today to read through the scriptures provided, meditate on the lessons learned that are applicable for all of us from this week and journal your prayers. Have an amazing week, thank you to all the mighty men of 29:11 Church!
THEME SCRIPTURE:
“We will not hide them from their children, But [we will] tell to the generation to come the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, And [tell of] His great might and power and the wonderful works that He has done.”
Psalms 78:4 AMP
TODAY’S PASSAGE:
And Jesus replied to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’”
Matthew 22:37 AMP
REFLECTION:
Growing up in a single-parent home brought so many different blessings and so many challenges. The list can go on and on for the challenges we experienced, but one of the greatest blessings was the fact that we had one family car, and we all got to share it. Whether that was getting rides to school, to the mall on Friday night to hang out with your friends, or getting sucked into helping with the family chores, having one vehicle meant we as a family spent quite a bit of time together in the vehicle. From the rotation of “who gets to be DJ” and the arguments over who got to ride in the passenger seat, there was never a dull moment with the family car.
Whoever got either role, the rule was always the same: you had to put the radio back to Dad’s radio station or put his cassette tape of James Earl Jones reading the Bible back into the player whenever we got out. Of course, we would always make fun of Darth Vader reading the Bible to our dad, but my dad knew the importance of knowing God, so he could then teach us about knowing Him. When you think about the legacy you’re building for your family on Christ, is it a daily pursuit or something your family never sees? Even more importantly, is it something you share by showing love?
THOUGHTS TO PONDER:
Take some time to think of ways you show your family or loved ones how you pursue God each day. Whether that’s incorporating it into the conversations around the dinner table or showing your faith when you think nobody is watching, find ways you can show your faith to the people around you to better build them up in their faith as well.
