THEME SCRIPTURE:
Parables of the Hidden Treasure and the Pearl
44 “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a treasure that a man discovered hidden in a field. In his excitement, he hid it again and sold everything he owned to get enough money to buy the field.
45 “Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a merchant on the lookout for choice pearls. 46 When he discovered a pearl of great value, he sold everything he owned and bought it!"
- Matthew 13:44-46
TODAY’S PASSAGE:
8 The Lord is compassionate and merciful, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. 9 He will not constantly accuse us, nor remain angry forever. 10 He does not punish us for all our sins; he does not deal harshly with us, as we deserve. 11 For his unfailing love toward those who fear him is as great as the height of the heavens above the earth. 12 He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west. 13 The Lord is like a father to his children, tender and compassionate to those who fear him.
- Psalm 103:8-13
REFLECTION:
We live in a fast paced world. It’s easy to get frustrated in the school drive line when you’re trying to pick up your kids from school or how about when the drive through line for your favorite coffee is just not moving fast enough. We can get so impatient with the small things. How bout being impatient with the big things like Why am I not married yet? What is my purpose? Why has God not healed me yet? Why is this relationship still broken. The great thing is even in our impatience…God is always patient with us. Like Psalms reminds us God is compassionate, merciful and slow to get angry. He is for you. He loves you. He is working behind the scenes on your behalf.
THOUGHTS TO PONDER:
What is something in your life you are being impatient about? How have you seen God be patient with you? What is one thing you can do to be more patient in your life?
