PARABLES - WEEK TWO - DAY TWO
Hello and welcome to your Daily Devos following our Prophet messages at 29:11! Take some time today to read through the scriptures provided, meditate on the lessons learned that are applicable for all of us from this week and journal your prayers. Have an amazing week 29:11 Church!
THEME SCRIPTURE:
18 “Now listen to the explanation of the parable about the farmer planting seeds: 19 The seed that fell on the footpath represents those who hear the message about the Kingdom and don’t understand it. Then the evil one comes and snatches away the seed that was planted in their hearts. 20 The seed on the rocky soil represents those who hear the message and immediately receive it with joy. 21 But since they don’t have deep roots, they don’t last long. They fall away as soon as they have problems or are persecuted for believing God’s word. 22 The seed that fell among the thorns represents those who hear God’s word, but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the worries of this life and the lure of wealth, so no fruit is produced. 23 The seed that fell on good soil represents those who truly hear and understand God’s word and produce a harvest of thirty, sixty, or even a hundred times as much as had been planted!”
Matthew 13:18-23 NLT
TODAY’S PASSAGE:
“The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.”
John 10:10 NLT
REFLECTION:
Being lied to is one of the worst things to feel. You may feel angry, betrayed, your heart sinks, maybe you even feel physically sick. This is how we typically react when it comes from someone close to us, yet the enemy is constantly trying to feed us lies and for some reason we listen.
You may have heard about the theory of talking to plants and how words affect their growth. The plants that are talked to positively grow so much more than the plants who are talked to negatively; they die quickly. Even the plants who aren’t spoken to at all die off eventually! This is exactly what the enemy is trying to do; cause you to die off. However, there is a promise in this scripture; that Jesus is to give you a rich and satisfying life.
THOUGHTS TO PONDER:
We need to take a look at those roots we talked about yesterday and get to the root of why they look the way they do. Have your roots been corrupted by lies from the enemy? Do you feel talked down to, discouraged, shameful? Do you feel trapped by the weight of the words you’re hearing? Or do you hear rich and satisfying, life giving words? Who we listen to will inevitably form our beliefs, so take some time today to ask God to reveal any lies you may be listening to and have him help you crush those lies and replace it with truth!
