PARABLES - WEEK TWO - DAY THREE

Hello and welcome to your Daily Devos following our Prophet messages at 29:11! Take some time today to read through the scriptures provided, meditate on the lessons learned that are applicable for all of us from this week and journal your prayers. Have an amazing week 29:11 Church!

THEME SCRIPTURE:

18 “Now listen to the explanation of the parable about the farmer planting seeds: 19 The seed that fell on the footpath represents those who hear the message about the Kingdom and don’t understand it. Then the evil one comes and snatches away the seed that was planted in their hearts. 20 The seed on the rocky soil represents those who hear the message and immediately receive it with joy. 21 But since they don’t have deep roots, they don’t last long. They fall away as soon as they have problems or are persecuted for believing God’s word. 22 The seed that fell among the thorns represents those who hear God’s word, but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the worries of this life and the lure of wealth, so no fruit is produced. 23 The seed that fell on good soil represents those who truly hear and understand God’s word and produce a harvest of thirty, sixty, or even a hundred times as much as had been planted!”

- Matthew 13:18-23 NLT

TODAY’S PASSAGE:

“So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.”

Matthew 6:31-34 NLT

REFLECTION:

Humans are natural problem solvers, so when we identify a problem, our instinct is to want to fix it. However, we can take that too far into worry. Worry stems from the anticipation of a future negative event, so we start figuring out every possible solution to create safety and stability. Worry also often masks our fears of not having enough. This passage is specifically talking to handling your money and possessions, directing us from worry into trust in our heavenly Father.

A mother bear and her cubs is a great example of this passage. The mother will go to great lengths in order to protect her cubs, she is the one meant to create safety for them to grow into their own. The cubs are not responsible for figuring out any solution to keep themselves safe or for providing for themselves. They trust in their mom for those things so they can focus on living out their purpose. This is the life God is wanting for us; for Him to take care of our needs, not worrying where provision will come from, and not taking it into our own hands. He wants you to know his protection and his provision.

THOUGHTS TO PONDER:

It’s easy to forget just how much God loves to provide for us in every capacity, we can get busy figuring it all out ourselves! This doesn’t mean we don’t need to work or be proactive with our lives though. What it is getting to is to remember who is our true provider, our true counselor, the one who wants to protect us from the cares of the world around us. God has a purpose for every person greater than worrying about our needs. Take some time today to ask God to help you identify any area of worry in your life, if any. Is it finances, family, health, something else? Replacing worry trust not only frees you from fear and a heavy burden, it enlightens you to live out your purpose and glorify our heavenly Father.
