Scripture - 1 Samuel 9

Observation - Saul and a servant were searching for lost donkeys. During their search, they met Samuel. God had already told Samuel that he would meet the future King of Israel that day. Samuel greated Saul, telling him that “you and your family are the focus of all Israel’s hopes.”  Sail must have tried to hide his amusement. He asked, “Don’t you know where I come from? Why would you say such a thing?” Sure, this young man had impressive stature, but was from the smallest Tribe of Israel. He was most likely tired and filthy from searching for donkeys. Despite all Saul’s doubts, God knew him and had a plan for him.

Application - Do you ever say the same thing? Do you tell God, “Do you know where I come from? Don’t you know who I am? Who am I to do your work? Remember Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, “Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.’”

Prayer - Today, pray Jeremiah 29:11 over your life. Read the words out loud to yourself and declare them over your life. God has not forgotten you and knows exactly who you are! Thank you father for calling us your own!
