PROPHETS - ISAIAH - DAY FIVE
Hello and welcome to our weekly devos following our Prophets series! These devo’s are Monday-Friday and pair with this past week’s message. Be sure to journal your thoughts, vocalize your prayers, and find God in all moments of your life this week.
THEME SCRIPTURE:
“But forget all that— it is nothing compared to what I am going to do. For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland. The wild animals in the fields will thank me, the jackals and owls, too, for giving them water in the desert. Yes, I will make rivers in the dry wasteland so my chosen people can be refreshed.”
Isaiah 43:18-20 NLT
TODAY’S PASSAGE:
“And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. For the new wine would burst the wineskins, spilling the wine and ruining the skins. 38 New wine must be stored in new wineskins. 39 But no one who drinks the old wine seems to want the new wine. ‘The old is just fine,’ they say.”
Luke 5:37-38
REFLECTION:
If you’ve ever lost weight and try to wear your old clothes, often times they just don’t work and you have to get new ones.Going shopping and getting a brand new outfit to wear that actually fits makes you feel more confident in your “new self”. In the same way when you accept Christ in your life your old self, patterns and habits just won’t fit in your new life. Your old wineskin is everything that you have become on your own - your old self, your old mindset and attitude, your old bad habits.
So in order to be ready for the new thing God is doing in you, you must lay down your ways and allow the Holy Spirit to transform you. As great as yesterday was - God has something brand new for you today. God can transform you and allow you to become a new person. Surrender your old ways and patterns to Jesus today and He will do something NEW in you!
THOUGHTS TO PONDER:
What’s NEW THING do you need God to do in you? Your family?
Is there a sin you are struggling to overcome? Is there an addictive chain that won’t seem to break? Is there a hurt that has cut deep? A wound in your heart that never seems to stop bleeding? Journal about whatever that isand surrender it to the Lord so he can do something NEW in you.
