PROPHETS - JOEL - DAY ONE

Hello and welcome to our weekly devos following our Prophets series! These devo’s are Monday-Friday and pair with this past week’s message. Be sure to journal your thoughts, vocalize your prayers, and find God in all moments of your life this week.

THEME SCRIPTURE:

Joel 2:28

And afterward,
I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
your old men will dream dreams,
your young men will see visions.

TODAY’S PASSAGE:

2 Peter 3:9 NIV

The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

REFLECTION:

Have you ever attempted to put on every single piece of clothing you own? Try it out. You cannot move, it’s hot and uncomfortable, harder to breathe, it might even devour you. Imagine seeing someone walking down the street wearing everything they own that you couldn’t even see their face.

You’d probably want so badly for them to not do that because there is no point, that is no way to live. That’s what repentance is! Walking around with the sin piling on top of you, devouring you, when at any moment you could make a switch and remove all of that by repenting to God. Repentance is simply turning to Him and you will continue to be devoured until you do.

THOUGHTS TO PONDER:

What has been your view of repentance been? Do any specific feelings come up when you think about it? Maybe you know that you need to start making a practice of it. Wherever you find yourself, take some time today to ask God to search your heart in regards to repentance. Are you open, skeptical, opposed? Meditate on the truth that at any moment, you could turn to Him and he will be overjoyed! He does not want you to perish.
