FATHER’S DAY - DAY FOUR

Hello and welcome to your Daily Devos following our Father’s Day message at 29:11! Take some time today to read through the scriptures provided, meditate on the lessons learned that are applicable for all of us from this week and journal your prayers. Have an amazing week, thank you to all the mighty men of 29:11 Church!

THEME SCRIPTURE:

“We will not hide them from their children, But [we will] tell to the generation to come the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, And [tell of] His great might and power and the wonderful works that He has done.”

Psalms 78:4 AMP

TODAY’S PASSAGE:

4 One generation commends your works to another;

    they tell of your mighty acts.

5 They speak of the glorious splendor of your majesty—

    and I will meditate on your wonderful works.

Psalm 145:4-5 NIV

REFLECTION:

There’s something so special that comes with the humility a legacy creates. Seeing my father get saved at a much later stage of his life and seeing the transformation it created in him brought a sense of awe and humility through our home. Knowing that my dad had already seen so much life and lived so much of life’s “mile marker” moments, yet was so quick to stay in a place of learning and growth was so admirable. In situations that would bring outbursts as the outcome turned into moments of understanding and apology. Where there would be conflict over disputes in the family turned into places of reconciliation and sobriety. My father was a changed man and the greatest indicator of change was his willingness to learn and his willingness to apologize. As we think about the legacy the Lord is building in us and how we are teaching it to the next generation, how are we showing the next set of baton-carriers to lead with humility, care and forgiveness? As Pastor Zion said in this message this past Sunday: “Two things that will help protect the baton pass: Asking for help and learning to apologize.” As we choose legacy, may we be people that live out these things first in our lives.

THOUGHTS TO PONDER:

As you take time today to think about guidance and forgiveness, ask the Lord to remind you of the power that comes with forgiveness and ask Him to give you guidance on how to continue to grow. After you pray, write down the 2-3 things you feel God is leading you to grow and learn in.
