LOVE ISLAND - WEEK ONE - DAY ONE

Hello and welcome to your Daily Devos following our Love Island messages at 29:11! Take some time today to read through the scriptures provided, meditate on the lessons learned that are applicable for all of us from this week and journal your prayers. Have an amazing week 29:11 Church!

THEME SCRIPTURE:

Ephesians 5:25-28 NLT - “For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God’s word. He did this to present her to himself as a glorious church without a spot or wrinkle or any other blemish. Instead, she will be holy and without fault. In the same way, husbands ought to love their wives as they love their own bodies. For a man who loves his wife actually shows love for himself.”

TODAY’S PASSAGE:

EPHESIANS 4:32 (NLT) - Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.

REFLECTION:

When I was a teenager, my first job was a preschool assistant. I would work after school and basically help with the end of the day and send off. We had the most amazing child that would be there for half the day, come in around lunch and stay till close. Well everyday mom would be late to pick him up, sometimes only 5 minutes late, others closer to 30. We mentioned it a couple times and its met with apologies but it kept happening. A lot of frustration came from that because I was the one who had to stay back till every kid was picked up.

One day we sat down with the mother to ask what was going on, she explained that she was a single mother and also sole provider and her job was hard to get out of at the same time everyday. Now we could have met this with late fees and anger towards the mom but we did not. We understood her situation and forgave her, we offered help to maybe make it easier for her and she was forever grateful. God does the same thing with us, he doesnt give us late fees for when we dont show up for him, but instead he extends grace and a helping hand.

THOUGHTS TO PONDER:

Has there been a situation where you found it hard to forgive? I encourage you to write down what the situation was a surrender it to God, theres so much power in giving Him our needs and he will help us forgive.
