LOVE ISLAND - WEEK ONE - DAY THREE

Hello and welcome to your Daily Devos following our Love Island messages at 29:11! Take some time today to read through the scriptures provided, meditate on the lessons learned that are applicable for all of us from this week and journal your prayers. Have an amazing week 29:11 Church!

THEME SCRIPTURE:

Ephesians 5:25-28 NLT - “For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God’s word. He did this to present her to himself as a glorious church without a spot or wrinkle or any other blemish. Instead, she will be holy and without fault. In the same way, husbands ought to love their wives as they love their own bodies. For a man who loves his wife actually shows love for himself.”

TODAY’S PASSAGE:

Hebrews 8:12 (NIV) - For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.

REFLECTION:

Have you ever had to practice transactional forgiveness with a puppy before? Im sure you have if you've ever been apart of the potty training part of the puppy stage! I remember when i had a puppy I was working on that with them and everytime I tried to have them out for the night to sleep in the room instead of their kennel, there was always accidents. It made so sense to be because when they are in their crate they would have have no problem holding it but the moment they left its like it triggered something in their brain! It became a point where I was starting to get really frustrated and losing patience with it. The nights out became fewer because that trust wasn't there.

It took months to build it back up with the puppy not having accidents. I encourage you to not treat your spouse, boyfriend or girlfriend, or even friendships the way we would treat a potty training puppy. If there are recurring “accidents” happening, we get to the root of the problem and work from there, not caging the unforgiveness up and not dealing with it. For when God forgives he doesn't hold our sin over our head so why do we often do that with others?

THOUGHTS TO PONDER:

Remember that we all have sinned, its not our job or authority to withhold forgiveness from someone because in the end its only hurting ourselves. Pray today for the Lord to soften our hearts towards the sin so we may forget.
